Unique Entity Number (UEN)
Currently, establishments have to use different identification numbers when interacting with different public sector agencies. The more commonly used identifiers include the ACRA number issued by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) to registered companies, businesses and limited liability partnerships, the ROS number issued by Registry of Societies (ROS) to registered societies.
Having a Unique Entity Number (UEN) for establishments in Singapore, similar to the NRIC number for individuals, will reduce the number of identifiers that establishments have to use. A UEN will also make interactions with the Government simpler, faster and easier.
The UEN system went live from 1 January 2009 and UEN has been adopted by all government agencies with effect from 1 July 2009.
Alliance for Corporate Excellence (ACE) is one of the initiatives led by the Singapore Government to facilitate greater collaboration among government agencies. ACE project aims to consolidate the different administration systems from selected Statutory Boards into a single shared ERP IT platform. The project enables the selected Statutory Boards to achieve efficiency gains and economies of scale by:
· Aggregating demand
· Standardising business requirements
· Sharing best practices in business processes
· Reducing duplication of IT systems
· Sharing IT expertise and manpower resources
The ACE system has gone live for some Statutory Boards and is scheduled to be rolled out to the remaining selected Statutory Boards by April 2010.
