CitizenConnect
CitizenConnect aims to provide an easy and convenient means for the public to transact with the Government through the Internet. CitizenConnect centres offer two conveniences. First, with 1,600 Government services available online, the centres provide help to those who need assistance to transact with the government online. CitizenConnect officers would be available to assist the members of the public how to use government websites, make government payments, request for CPF statements, renew and apply for HDB or URA season parking tickets, pay library fines, apply for business licences, find out more about government policies, etc. Second, for those who do not have a computer or internet access at home, they can access the Government related websites for free.
Five CitizenConnect centres were jointly launched by the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the People’s Association (PA) and its grassroots organisations on 1 October 2005. These centres are located at The Serangoon, Pasir Ris East Community Club (CC), Gek Poh Ville CC, Toa Payoh Central CC and Zhenghua CC. As at end October 2006, more than 15,000 residents have visited these five CitizenConnect centres.
From 15 November 2006, 22 new CitizenConnect centres spread geographically across Singapore are available to bring greater convenience to more – 20 in Community Centres / Clubs, one at the CPF Board’s Jurong Branch and one in Revenue House, IRAS.
The expansion of the network of CitizenConnect centres is in line with the strategic iGov 2010 vision to improve the reach and richness of government online services.
