GeBIZ

Carrying out Government 2 Business (G2B) e-procurement transactions has never been easier for the public sector, thanks to Government Electronic Business (GeBIZ), an integrated one-stop centre where trading partners, including suppliers and prospective revenue tender bidders, can interact with the Government for procurement and revenue tender activities.  GeBIZ was launched on 26 June 2000, with a focus to provide transactional capability through purchases from Period Contracts to the GeBIZ pioneer sites, which included Nanyang Polytechnic, Trade Development Board and Ministry of Home Affairs - Singapore Civil Defence Force. It was also introduced to interested agencies, such as the Land Transport Authority, to allow them to enjoy the same period contract publication functionality as the pioneer sites.

Increase in Scope

In December 2000, GeBIZ was extended to existing GeBIZ Tender Publication users as well as other users in the Government Procurement Entity (GPE) to procure from selected service wide period contracts. The objective of GeBIZ is to put in place an integrated end-to-end solution for procurement and revenue tender processes, so as to facilitate electronic procurement and revenue tender activities easily and effectively, in line with Government policies and procedures.

Besides a wider access to government tenders and quotations, the one-stop GeBIZ website brings added value and convenience to suppliers, since they can now carry out a myriad of transactions electronically, vis-à-vis using laborious manual and paper-based methods of procurement. Suppliers can also enjoy enhanced security for these electronic communications and transactions through the use of electronic authentication and digital signatures.

GeBIZ brings about better work efficiency through integrated electronic implementation of procurement and revenue tender activities. In addition to providing increased convenience and better synergy in the automatic consolidation and publication of tender notices, it allows for better information and knowledge management of procurement and revenue tender statistics and purchasing patterns within the individual organization as well as across the whole public sector.
