Singapore Extends E-Government Footprint Into The Caribbean
To foster co-operation and facilitate the exchange of knowledge in the area of ICT development, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and Trinidad and Tobago’s Ministry of Public Administration (MPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) today.

Blazing Ahead with Innovation - Singapore New Infocomm Champions Crowned
Fifteen companies were presented the National Infocomm Awards (NIA), the highest accolade for infocomm innovation in Singapore, for making their mark in infocomm development and innovative adoption of infocomm technology.  The companies received their awards from RADM (NS) Lui Tuck Yew, Senior Minister of State for Education, and Information, Communications and the Arts, at the NIA gala dinner this evening.

Singapore's Next Generation National Broadband Network To Be Nationwide by 2012
By 2012, homes and offices nationwide will be connected to Singapore’s ultra high-speed and pervasive Next Generation National Broadband Network (Next Gen NBN). In two years’ time, 60 per cent of homes and offices can already expect to have access to this new, pervasive, all-fibre network.

Unique Entity Number Brings Convenience to Entities
From 1 January 2009, all entities that are registered in Singapore, such as businesses, local companies, limited liability partnerships (LLPs), societies, representative offices, healthcare institutions and trade unions, will have a Unique Entity Number (UEN) as its identification number. This shall be used for correspondence and interaction with government agencies.

Singapore To Host Meetings For ICT Ministers And Regulators
ICT Ministers and telecom regulators will be meeting in Singapore next week to discuss issues relating to the development of broadband and next generation networks. Held in conjunction with the Infocomm Media Business Exchange (imbX), Asia's largest infocomm and media trade event, Singapore will host the imbX Ministerial Forum on ICT and the ASEAN Telecommunication Regulators' Council (ATRC) meeting.

Next Generation Technologies For Next Generation Learning
Imagine immersive learning environments that can mimic different kinds of scenarios in the classroom. Without having to visit the Singapore Zoo, Science students can, for example, immerse themselves in a 4-Dimensional (4D) environment and observe a lion’s behaviour, record it and share the information with fellow students. Such highly immersive and interactive solutions will soon be a reality for Singapore’s pioneer batch of FutureSchools, when fully implemented by 2012.

The Government today launched a new S$70 million Infocomm Security Masterplan that will see the public, private and people sectors work even more closely together towards combating emerging cyber threats over the next five years. The Infocomm Security Masterplan 2 (MP2) will further hone Singapore's public, private and people sectors' competencies and resilience against cyber threats.

First In The World: Wireless Mobile Wimax Access In Singapore's Seaport Now A Reality
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) and QMax Communications Pte Ltd (QMax) have jointly set up and launched the WIreless-broadband-access for SEaPort, or WISEPORT, project. With the infrastructure in place ships can now enjoy wireless mobile broadband connectivity while operating in the Port of Singapore, up to 15km from Singapore’s southern coastline.

IDA To Pre-Qualify Interested Parties To Be Operating Company For Singapore's Next Generation National Broadband Network
The Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) is today starting the pre-qualification exercise for the Request For Proposal (RFP) for the Operating Company (OpCo) of Singapore’s Next Generation National Broadband Network (Next Gen NBN). This follows the launch of the Next Gen NBN Network Company (NetCo) RFP on 11 December 2007 and is part of IDA’s continued engagement with the industry to roll out the Next Gen NBN.

S$1.3b Standard ICT Operating Environment Tender Awarded To OneMeridian
By 2010, public officers will enjoy an agile infocomm environment that promotes innovation and enhances productivity at work, with the establishment of a Standard ICT Operating Environment (SOEasy) for the public sector. The S$1.3 billion SOEasy (Public Sector) tender was awarded to oneMeridian, the consortium led by EDS International. The other key members in the consortium include Alcatel-Lucent, Avanade, Cisco Systems, Frontline, Microsoft, Singapore Computer Systems and SingTel.
