Government agencies honoured at the National Infocomm Awards 2008
The Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) clinched the winner’s title for the “Most Innovative Use of Infocomm Technology (Public Sector)” category at the 2008 National Infocomm Awards with its Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). The adoption of ITS has helped LTA to improve the operational efficiency and road safety of Singapore’s road network. Two other government agencies, the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore and the Ministry of Manpower each won merit awards in the same category for their respective projects, the Inland Revenue Interactive Network (IRIN) and the Employment Pass Online (EPOL). Singapore i-Government projects finalists in CAPAM International Innovations Award 2008
The International Innovations Awards Programme organised by the Commonwealth Association of Public Administration & Management (CAPAM) honours initiatives that demonstrate excellence, innovation and quality service delivery in public administration. Two ICT projects from Singapore were listed as finalists in this award – the my cpf Portal by the Central Provident Board, and the Mobile Government project by the Ministry of Finance and Infocomm Development Authority.
Singapore i-Government projects finalists in Stockholm Challenge 2008
Six ICT projects from Singapore’s government agencies were shortlisted as finalists at Stockholm Challenge 2008, an international gathering of the world’s best ICT applications for the benefit of people and society. The goal of the Stockholm Challenge is to help counteract social and economic disadvantage, wherever it occurs, by promoting the use of ICT for development. The six projects were:

World Economic Forum's Global Information Technology Report (2007-2008)
Singapore was ranked overall fifth in the WEF GITR report, while Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States took the top places. The WEF GITR contributed to raising awareness of the importance of ICT diffusion for overall competitiveness. The broad methodological framework of the Networked Readiness Index, identifies the enabling factors that permit countries to fully benefit from ICT advances, stressing the key responsibility of all social actors—individuals, businesses, and governments. The ranking allows them to follow the progress of their country over time and vis-à-vis relevant comparators, and providing a neutral and authoritative platform for public-private dialogue and for designing national policies and strategies that aim toward enhanced networked readiness and competitiveness.
Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) e-Readiness Ranking 2008
Singapore maintained its sixth position from 2007 in the EIU e-Readiness Ranking 2008. The United States, Hong Kong, Sweden, Australia and Denmark topped the list in the ranking, which measures the quality of a country’s information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and the ability of its consumers, businesses and governments to use ICT to their benefit.
